Books on Fashion Design

The Great European Designers

Dolce & Gabbana Balenciaga
Since the opening of their studio in 1982, the partnership of Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana has come to symbolize the new generation of Italian fashion design. Celebrating the work of this new era, the book showcases the sexy and confident looks by renowned pair. According to Jean Cocteau, "fashion dies young." But Balenciaga is an exception. He became the most creative couturier of his time, living for and by an unequaled body of work, searching for the most sober elegance. Often contradictory, his creations were balanced between the simple, the measured, and an eccentric, abstract boldness. His Spanish roots combined the austere with a beautiful baroque violence. He remains today the couturier of reference in haute couture history
